Walmart fails to perform the minimum functions of a real pharmacy

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting us at Walmart.com regarding
women's prescriptions for birth control. Your comments and concerns are
very important to us as we strive to meet your needs.

Wal-Mart does not carry emergency contraceptives. Our pharmacists
may decline to fill a prescription based on personal convictions.
However, they must find another pharmacist, either
at Wal-Mart or another pharmacy, who can assist you by filling your
prescription. Again, we thank you for your comments regarding this
issue.

Sincerely, Customer Service at Walmart.com

I already knew of (approximately) several thousand* reasons not to shop at, much less go on the hottest date ever at Walmart. So, just to add one more, let's translate this e-mail they sent me from Customer-Servicese to English.

Dear Fornicating Harlot,

Shut up about the birth control
already. Your comments and concerns are so very important to us, that we
responded to your questions about our policies with an uninformative form
letter.

Walmart believes that the “Emergency” in emergency
contraceptives is ridiculous hyperbole. How could the possible pregnancies
of adulterers, fornicators, monogamous heterosexual married couples, and rape
victims be anything but a joyous occasion and source of future cheap Walmart
labor? If you want to go against God’s will, you can always go to one of
the many nearby pharmacies that we haven’t yet driven out of
business.

Our pharmacists may decline to fill a prescription based
on personal convictions, as long as there is a pharmacy somewhere on the North
American continent that will fill it instead.** Why are you so upset?
We’re considering a policy that requires our pharmacists to force
birth-control seekers to read the entire Left Behind series before being stoned
to death, so our current one seems relatively benign to us.

Shut up, shut up, shut up.

Sincerely, Customer
Service at Godcorp.

** P. S. Watch us change that policy as
soon as some filthy hippy has a personal conviction against animal
testing.

*Walmart no longer sells the Protocols, but I'm dissatisfied with their response.

Update

I didn't know what anger really was until I found these pages on the Walmart website.

  • Thank you. That email form letter pissed me off too.

  • I almost punched my computer when I saw that form letter response. And I replied back to it but, shockingly, they didn't write back to me.

  • I'm wondering, though, if part of the reason it enfuriated me so much was because it was from EvilCorp. If it came from Walgreens, it would have been upsetting, but I might have believed it was a sincere attempt to accomodate its employees.

I don't believe a Walton would spit on a Walmart employee if he/she was on fire, so I don't believe they'd actually sacrifice profits for the sake of their employees' religious beliefs. This leaves only one possible interpretation--they hate women, which is amply demonstrated in everything else they do.

  • OH NOEESS!!! IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!

This is nothing more than a case of you can't please all the people all the time. Sell emergency contraceptives and offend christian employees who must supply them. Don't sell them and offend customers. Meet half-way, and leave it to the discretion of the employee, and offend bitchy customers.

I am so tired of everything having to be politically correct, and all of us having to be shiny happy people. So you have to drive 2 minutes to the next pharmacy. I don't know about where you live, but here everywhere I have lived there has been at least 3 other (CVS/Rite-Aide/Walgreens) pharmacies within walking distance of Wal-Mart's.

The only possible interpretation is that they hate women? LMFAO. I'm more apt to think they're trying to offend as few people as possible.

Go burn another bra, or whatever it is you neo-feminists do to get the world even more changed in your favor.

By the way, did you read any of those wal-mart articles you posted? Perhaps the one about their sexual discrimenation case? If you did, you'll see that they are indeed discriminatory in their business practices...against men. They stated that they consciously try to get "at least 50% of women" into their management positions. At least 50% of a workforce being female, that means at MOST 50% male. But you don't see men bitching about this. Why? Because nothing can match the zealotry of a feminist.

  • So, you're mad at Walmart because you had unprotected sex and they won't put your mind at ease? What's next? Get mad because they won't perform abortions on demand? I'm sorry, I'm a woman, too, but I don't expect someone else to take on my responsibilities. Oh, yeah, I also don't have insurance. But I'm also not screaming at the world saying that it's my right to have other people pay my medical bills just because I was born into the world. People SOOOOOO need to start taking responsibility for their own lives & holding themselves accountable for their choices. Here's a tip: You can go to your local health dept--they will give you all the free condoms you need, possibly get you on the pill for free, spermicides, there are loads of options. I know, I know--you want to be a free spirit, full of spontaneity. I'm all for that. Within reason. But, you gonna sue Walmart when your free-spiritedness & spontaneity land you with an STD or AIDS?

  • I believe that companies like Walmart thrive off of the rapidly expanding poverty in our country. Poverty that they contribute to by using cheap overseas labor to produce their inexpensive low quality merchandize. Why don't people in rural and suburban areas realize what retailer like Walmart have done to their small-town downtown business districts?
